H. Shane Ross was born in Murray, Utah in 1973. At the age of five he moved with his family to Vernal. He loved the area and felt a strong attachment to the landscape. After serving a mission for his church, Ross earned a BFA from Utah State University. Part of his education included a trip to Europe, where he studied art and design and taught drawing. As he studies the works of artists who have gone before and ponders upon the art he wants to create, Ross’s goal remains unchanged. He strives to create art which builds and edifies others. The landscape provides Ross with the inspiration to achieve this goal. He currently lives in Logan, Utah with his wife and three children.
