Meredith is inspired by her lifelong passion for nature. Her background and achievements further illuminate this passion. She earned a degree in Biology from St. Lawrence University, followed by a certificate in Scientific Illustration, leading her to an early career in illustration. Her natural history illustrations and drawings have been published in numerous books, textbooks, journals, and magazines.
After moving to Jackson Hole in 1990, Meredith focused on the diverse wildlife of Wyoming in her artwork. Meredith strives to capture the life and individuality of her subjects with the sensitivity of one who has truly immersed herself in their character. Her goal, as an artist, is to accurately portray her subjects' individuality and personality. A student of the old masters in realism, combined with her studies with present day masters, Meredith strives to create portraits that accurately portray her subjects while working with light, design, and brushwork to create a work of art.
A teacher as well as an artist, Meredith instructs drawing classes for the Yellowstone Institute, the Teton County School District, and Central Wyoming College. She is a member of Oil Painters of American and has trained with several highly acclaimed artists, including Robert Bateman, Jim Walcox, and Dave Wade.
Meredith's passion for wildlife and nature inspired her to co-found the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation in 1993, for which she presently serves as a board member. She and her husband Tom have two children, Annalyssa and Cameron, live in Wilson, Wyoming with several birds, dogs and horses.
