Gerald Griffin was born in San Francisco in 1952. Since he was able, he has been an avid artist. In 1970, he was voted “Artist of the Year” at his high school, and when he graduated attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he earned both his BFA, in 1977, and his MFA, in 1982. He initially worked as an illustrator for the Life Sciences Museum at the University until he moved on to professorship. Griffin has worked as a university level art instructor since his graduation, both in Arizona as well as Idaho. He currently teaches art at Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho, where he resides. He is primarily interested in still life and western landscapes.
