Drew Smith was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Tetons, the Snake River and a few local wetlands became magical destinations to which Smith was drawn to as a youth. Painting seemed the most natural medium through which he could express the beautiful scenery that has always surrounded him. After attending Ricks College and studying with wildlife artist Leon Parson, he went on to graduate from Utah State University with a bachelor of fine arts degree. Smith recently participated in the Montana Land Reliance sponsored show “Artists for Open Space” and in the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival as a Quick Draw Artist. “My reaction to art, both my own and others is one of gratitude. My recognition of the world and this beautiful country as a source of awe and reverence, more than that of recreational and economic opportunity, defines my artistic vision.”
