Growing up on a ranch near Carson City, Nevada, September grew up painting the surrounding animals and landscape. At age 23, she spent six months studying watercolor painting in Denmark under the tutelage of professors from the Royal Academy of Copenhagen. She received her Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Oregon in 1993, and moved to Jackson Wyoming where she pursued her career in architecture and painted in her spare time. Her understanding of structure, composition, and light – crucial aspects in the field of architecture – give her paintings a sense of three dimensional weight. After seven years of practicing architecture, she now devotes herself full-time to her artwork.
