Sandra Cooney says her inspiration for expression began as a child playing outdoors and she continues that play as an adult with her family in the Uinta Range of Utah through skiing, snowmobiling, and camping. She says her work expresses a peacefulness that comes over her when she’s out in the field taking photos of meadows with streams, aspen groves, and quiet places not often visited by humans. Her works are landscapes mainly from the Jackson Hole, Sun Valley, and Uinta mountain areas. “My watercolors reflect the personal vision of the rugged western landscape. The vastness of atmosphere, colors of nature, and planes of space provide me ample tools to express this vision. I work in all mediums, but my present passion is watercolor.”
